Learning outcomes
Learning Aim:

To develop knowledge and skills required to conduct robust child-focused assessments

and design defensible plans to reduce and manage the risk of harm

Learning Outcomes:

Participants will be offered opportunities to:

• Consider research evidence and findings from Serious Case Reviews to inform assessment, decision making and planning

• Explore the key principles that underpin effective child-focused assessment in families where adults face complex life difficulties

• Consider how to generate and analyse information and provide good evidence on which to build decisions

• Develop questions that enable robust analysis of risk from a strengths-based perspective

• Consider how to use evidenced based professional judgement when analysing information and reaching conclusions.


This training will contribute towards the following. The course does not measure if

participants have achieved competency; this will need to be addressed in the workplace.
